How to Choose the Right Brake Setup
- Define your use: Daily, spirited canyons, autocross, lapping days, tow/haul, or overland.
- Pick compounds: Mild street (low dust/noise), sport (balanced bite/heat), track (high temp).
- Match rotors: High-carbon and slotted for heat; two-piece for unsprung weight savings.
- Tighten feel: Stainless lines + high-temp fluid = consistent pedal under heat.
- Scale up: BBK for repeated high-speed stops, wider pad choices, and better heat capacity.

Brake Upgrade FAQ
Q1: What brake pad compound is best for my build?
A: For daily street use, ceramic offers low dust and quiet operation. For spirited/canyon driving, performance semi-metallic gives stronger bite and heat tolerance. For track/autocross, use motorsport compounds (higher temp range) and pair with appropriate rotors and fluid.
Q2: Slotted vs drilled vs blank rotors—what should I choose?
A: Slotted improves pad de-gassing and bite; drilled can reduce weight and help initial bite but may fatigue sooner on track; blanks are durable and quiet. Most performance street cars do great with slotted; heavy track use prefers slotted or blank high-carbon rotors.
Q3: Do stainless steel brake lines make a difference?
A: Yes—braided stainless lines reduce hose expansion for a firmer, more consistent pedal, especially when hot. Pair them with quality fluid for maximum benefit.
Q4: What’s included in a big-brake kit (BBK)?
A: Typically multi-piston calipers, larger rotors, performance pads, braided lines, and mounting hardware. Expect shorter stops, better heat management, and improved pedal feel.
Q5: Can you help with fitment for wheels, caliper clearance, and brake bias?
A: Absolutely. We can check wheel barrel/offset clearance, advise on master cylinder and brake bias, and recommend pad/rotor combos for your goals. Contact us with your year/make/model, wheel specs, and intended use.
